AQUA Montserrat services, designs, builds, monitors and evaluates ocean awareness experiences for schools, government, NGOs and communities. We are focused on educating communities of our wonderful yet fragile ocean backyards and the creatures that live within it. In doing so we aim to empower and unite the next generation of ocean leaders.
We are a leading resource in ocean literacy, marine ed-venture, community building, youth empowerment, and program innovation.
We employ 3 core strategies:
ED-VENTURE, INNOVATION, COMMUNITY
CEO AQUA Montserrat
Veta is an ocean advocate and outreach specialist, experienced in educating youth via empowerment, and adventure. Through her outreach work Veta has been able to engage communities and volunteers across cultures, age and abilities, in embracing everything marine conservation related.
She has spent the past few years working primarily on Montserrat and Barbuda, delivering ocean advocacy and community outreach programs. Veta is also experienced in liaising with in-country partners and advising on grassroots conservation efforts.
In 2014, Veta founded AQUA Montserrat, a social business modelled around marine education and awareness as a means to mitigate damage to coral reefs and build climate resilience. The AQUA model continues to evolve.
In the following year, Veta established Fish 'N Fins Kids Club, a non-profit organisation which provides educational programmes for schools and youth groups through ocean edventures.
Currently, Veta coordinates marine awareness projects in association with Waitt Institute, Blue Halo Montserrat, Government of Montserrat & Montserrat National Trust.
“My goal is not only to educate and increase Caribbean youth awareness about the marine life, but also to immerse them and inspire them to be passionate ocean stewards. Together, we must all understand the challenges we face, and be a part of the solutions. There’s a lot of work to be done, I look forward to doing it together.’’ Veta Wade
